To commemorate the end of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, this application contains detailed information on 'Churchill's Few'. The 'Few' became the nickname for the brave pilots and commanders of the RAF that defended Britain from the advancing forces of the German Third Reich.

The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was one of the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign in history. The RAF victory of the Battle of Britain destroyed the once impressive reputation of the German Luftwaffe and forced Hitler to abandon the invasion plans of England (Codenamed Operation Sea Lion).

This app contains detailed information on the Royal Air Force Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain, it's Commanders, Aircraft and Squadrons which fought in this historic battle. Also included are detailed information on the key German Luftwaffe commanders and the planes used by the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain.

The Aircraft:
Key information on all of the aircraft involved (both RAF and Luftwaffe), from famous planes such as the Spitfire, Hurricane and the Messerschmitt to the lesser known planes such as the Gloster Gladiator and Arado Ar 196. Each plane comes with an image, overview, it's role in the Battle of Britain and a specification of the plane, including information on the engine, crew and armament.

All of the Royal Air Force Fighter Command commanders are included in detail, as well as the key German commanders. All commanders come with a portrait and a biography of their lives, detailing their careers before, during and after the Battle of Britain.

Sixty-Eight RAF squadrons took park in the Battle of Britain in one manor or another. Every squadron has been included, complete with squadron motto, badge and a detailed history of the squadron, from it's origins up to the end of the Second World War.
